I’m a little bit rock and roll….Yes, I went to see Donny and Marie last night at the Flamingo Hotel here in sin city. The siblings from the seventies seem to have captured what Dick Clark had for so many years, the fountain of youth. I have been wanting to see my Tiger Beat pin-up for years. And, who doesn’t love Marie?
When choosing my tickets, without hesitation, I purchased the option to meet and greet after the show. So really, I was getting the chance to encounter the purple sock wearing heart throb from my youth and his darling sister who is a role model for all women. Our seats were VIP, you know that’s how I like to roll, right up front. During Donny’s rendition of “Puppy Love” (dreamy), I sang along. You know I know all the words. At the very end, he stopped singing, looked directly at me and said, “I’m singing this one.” Then he laughed and asked me to sing with him. You know I was hoping he would call me up on stage. When the song was ovaaah, he asked my name and continued a bit of banter with me for a bit; I won’t bore you with the gory details.
Every entertainer needs to take a tip from Donny and Marie. Not only are they fabulous on stage, they completely engage their audience. The duo transport us back to a simpler time. They take us into the world they experienced as child stars. I felt like a kid again, enjoying what seemed to be such a familiar story of which I was part. Donny and Marie treat their audience like old friends. Of all the shows I’ve seen, I don’t recall one that has come close.
Marie, a woman of courage, is no stranger to heartache. During the show, she takes a moment to acknowledge that all of us have been through tough times, validating every person in the room. She is the perfect example of living “The Only Way is Up!” Marie is kind, funny, loving and caring. She exudes joy. Her happiness radiates from her deepest being. Marie Osmond is, by far, one of the best role models in the entertainment industry. I would give anything to interview her for my web show.
I did meet both of these beautiful people after the show. They are everything I have written. Marie is gorgeous close up. Donny, well, let’s just say he’s still a hunk. If you are in Vegas, I highly recommend the Donny and Marie show at the Flamingo Hotel. You will not be disappointed.
