The heart is fragile. It has a mind of its own. The heart is constantly seeking to be loved and filled up. When the heart is neglected, especially for a long period of time, it runs amuck. The heart will take you anywhere to satiate itself. Who is responsible for this neglect? We can blame our parents, siblings, the mean kids with whom we attended school, our spouses or even our kids. But who is really to blame here? Ourselves! We are at the helm of our own happiness.
I am in charge of my heart, not the other way around. I make the choices to believe the lies people tell me about how I don’t measure up, that I am ugly, worthless, unlovable, etc. I make the choice to take the actions of another as a rejection of me. I make the choices to react to this treatment in such a way that I end up looking for love in all the wrong places.
When we don’t live a physically healthy lifestyle, the results are easy to recognize. A deficiency in emotional well being is not so easy to distinguish. Early action is necessary before things blow up on you. Reevaluate unproductive, dysfunctional relationships. Do you have someone that loves you unconditionally, where you can be your total self? Are you taking time to nourish your heart with good self-help books, therapist, al-anon or AA? When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Think about all these things before your heart brings you down a road of no return.
Tell me what’s going on in your life….I want to hear from you.
Wishing you love, balance and peace,
Just Steph
